A little about Ayarah and, what we do

Ayarah’s mission is to educate and inspire people on how to live a happy, full, plant-based lifestyle. We do this by teaching hands-on cooking classes, workshops, and retreats covering all aspects of plant health and nutrition. The ideas, the how-to and the why!

Our cooking classes and workshops are held in Roleystone a short 40 minute trip from Perth CBD. Ayarah is 100% vegan and follows a plant-based lifestyle for ethical, environmental and health reasons. We are all about living life to the fullest on plants!

About Ayarah

Hello, I’m Raya Higgs, owner and chef of Ayarah and I live in the Roleystone on ten acres of natural bush with my husband and four incredible husky fur babies.

From as early as I can remember, I have always been in the kitchen. When I was just a child I would watch my mum make food for us. She would always just throw together ingredients in a big bowl and everything would always taste great!

I have always loved experimenting by seeing different food or dishes I like and then going home and trying to recreate them with my own personal spin on things.

My vegan lifestyle started through my bodybuilding journey. In the year of 2014, I started on what I thought was a great way to get in shape and be healthy. I started at local competitions and before I knew it I was placing top three in several World federations and I won my pro card.

However what I quickly realised was that when I was dieting down, I was restricting my diet with low micronutrients. My body was missing vital minerals and vitamins for my optimum health. So I quickly started ditching the traditional nutritional things you get taught in bodybuilding and began my vegan lifestyle in 2015, embarking on a healthier lifestyle and never looking back. Eating more, being healthier, better balanced and definitely not starving myself to lose weight. 

So on a mission to inspire I started with Matthew Kenney’s Plantlab in 2015 and quickly found my passion for food and life was here! This is why I created Ayarah, to educate and inspire others to choose plants over animals. Not just for animal welfare, but our health and environmental impact on the world.

Every person I meet who is interested in a vegan lifestyle asks me the same question first… But what do I eat? This is where Ayarah can help, from loads of flavour packed recipes, interactive cooking classes, and vegan catering, we have you covered.
